Transparency that prints

shadows and feathered edges keep their colour: black stays black, spot colours stay on their plates, the object stays vector

Example document in the program showing the effect of “Transparency that prints”

Shadows and feathered edges retain their colour through to the print PDF. A black shadow stays on black, and a spot-colour shadow uses its own plate. The object itself remains a vector. For a book cover with a spot colour, you can use a feathered edge and inspect its separation. Transparency therefore retains the same colour assignment as its design element.
