Where to find itFont › Paragraph
Medusa detects language from the text and uses it for hyphenation and spelling. You can explicitly set the language for the whole text, a paragraph or individual characters. In a multilingual magazine, this helps with quotations and foreign-language passages inside an article. Hyphenation patterns cover 25 languages, with dictionaries for German using Swiss ss, English, French, Italian and Spanish. You store hyphenation exceptions per language in the document and specify permitted breaks yourself. An explicitly set paragraph language takes precedence even within text in another language.
How to do it
- Select the text you want to edit.
- Open Window › Text › Paragraph & Character.
- Choose the required language under Language.
- For custom break points, open Edit › Spelling › Hyphenation exceptions …
Tips
- A word with no marked break in hyphenation exceptions is never hyphenated.
