Project Medusa Sign in

Indic scripts such as Devanagari, Bengali and Tamil with correct conjuncts and vowel signs, searchable in the PDF

Example document in the program showing the effect of “Indic scripts such as Devanagari”

For Indic scripts, Medusa shapes character sequences into conjuncts and positions the associated vowel signs. This includes Devanagari, Bengali and Tamil with a suitable font. In a multilingual publishing brochure, you can edit these passages as text instead of placing finished images. PDF export draws the shaped characters and retains the underlying text for searching. Before print approval, check the actual font and difficult character combinations. Documented comparisons show good results for several scripts but also identify specific shaping limits.

How to do it

  1. Select the text frame.
  2. Choose a font for the required script.
  3. Insert the text and check conjuncts and vowel signs in the layout and PDF.

Limits

Known limits affect the Devanagari combination र्कि, Reph placement in morx fonts and Myanmar shaping.
