Where to find itFont › Show hidden characters · ⌘⇧⌥H
Showing hidden characters makes spaces, paragraph ends and other control characters visible in the text. In a book manuscript, you can spot a tab where only a word space should be. The special-character and whitespace menus insert the intended characters at the cursor. “Indent to here” makes following lines start at the inserted position. The glyph panel shows the selected font’s characters and helps with those missing from the keyboard. The helper display is for editing and does not belong to the printed text.
How to do it
- Choose Font › Show hidden characters.
- Place the cursor at the required position.
- Choose a character through Font › Insert special character or Insert white space.
- For additional characters, open Font › Glyphs.
